American Armed Forces Executes Lethal Strike in Pacific, Leading to 4 Fatalities
According to a senior defense spokesperson, the American armed forces carried out a fatal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, killing four individuals.
“A US joint task force conducted a deadly attack on a vessel operated by a terrorist group in international waters. Surveillance verified the vessel was traveling along a established drug smuggling route and was involved in narco-trafficking operations. All four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no US military forces were harmed.”
Background and Recent Actions
The statement comes a day after a declaration regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers to and from Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil revenues to fund narcotics smuggling and other crimes, pledging to increase the military buildup.
Just on the previous day, the Pentagon said it had conducted strikes on three boats it accused of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, killing eight people. Beginning on 2 September, over 20 strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 individuals, most off the coast of Venezuela.
Administration Justifies Actions Amid Scrutiny
The government has faced increasing pressure to make public video of a 2 September vessel attack. However, officials have declined to do so. The administration has supported its campaign as a success, saying it has stopped drugs from reaching US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is exceeding the limits of legal military action.
Although the administration has stated the operation is about halting drugs destined for the US, comments from a senior aide seemed to suggest a wider geopolitical aim. In a recently published interview, the chief of staff said the president “wants to keep on blowing boats up until the Venezuelan president surrenders or concedes.”
This suggests the series of strikes may be linked to a push to oust Venezuela's current leadership.
