In a bizarre partnership that challenges conventional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "A strange confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret cult.

The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Transformations

The trailer features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Material

Players who finish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana together with numerous items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's newest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that clearly referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
