Barcelona to Host First Match at Renovated Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held a public practice on the home pitch in early November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from Uefa to host the next European match versus the German side on 9 December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
