Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Success also signifies he has secured 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
