Comedian and author David Walliams parted ways with publishing house.

David Walliams

Prolific young adult author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, the company has said.

An official for the publisher stated: "Upon deliberation, and under the leadership of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the move was taken subsequent to an investigation into reports of inappropriate behaviour towards women.

The firm did not confirm the specific rationale behind the move, adding: "It is not our policy to discuss internal matters."

A Prolific Publishing History

Walliams stands as a most successful children's authors, having sold more than 60 million copies worldwide in 55 languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins in 2008.

Several of his works, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into TV movies.

To date, he has released in excess of 40 works in total, including a festive story called *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins in October.

From Screen to Page

He first rose to fame on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE back in 2017 in recognition of his work for charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
