EU Officials Decry US Move as ‘Intimidation’

European leaders including the French president accused Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, after the travel bans targeted figures who have been central to campaigns to introduce legislation regulating American tech companies.

“For too long, European activists have spearheaded organised efforts to coerce American platforms to suppress American viewpoints they disagree with,” wrote the US secretary of state in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”
