The Blue Jays Earn World Series Matchup Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden championship series since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.

Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the seven-game series. Next up are the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.

"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now slugged 23 playoff homers, placing him third in history behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that spot except for him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, are still the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but commended their performance this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he continued.

Toronto's team secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
