A teenage boy was found dead just days after being falsely accused of taking the ashes of a deceased infant during a burglary, a coroner's inquiry has learned.
Tragic Finding
The young boy's parents discovered his body in his room at his Flintshire residence on November 19th, 2021.
Untrue Accusations Begin
The inquest heard how his parent received a message on 8 November 2021 via social media, from a individual asking if her son was her offspring. The communication stated: "Tell him appreciation for burgling my flat."
In a statement read to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the woman had been in the news, asserting her infant's remains had been stolen in a burglary - a claim which was untrue.
Police Inquiry
An investigation report from authorities later concluded the alleged break-in complainant had "provided false information" and "it now appears that the items was never taken in the first place".
News coverage about the supposed taken remains attracted social media comments, and although the teenager was not named in the posts, his mother said individuals "understood it was him".
The "social media content were really distressing", she said.
Mental Wellbeing Effect
She added that Kai had been identified with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other peoples' opinions really mattered to him.
"It would have hurt him deeply," she said, "particularly when this was not true".
Kai was detained at home, but nothing was found. He was taken to a police station and later released pending further inquiry.
Police said they would be in touch, the hearing heard, but had failed to contacted the relatives by the moment of his passing.
Isolation and Worry
His parent said Kai "withdrew into himself" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had received anything from the authorities", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could seem like much longer".
When she spoke to him about the supposed incident, she said her son informed her he had gone into the house because the woman who resided there had said he could utilize the toilet whenever he needed, but denied removing anything.
Digital Harassment
In a combined testimony between her and her husband, the mother said her child was being bullied digitally after the accusations.
The proceedings heard that one 19-year-old encouraged the teenager to end his life.
She had no worries on the evening before he died, explaining how she had listened to him "laughing and joking".
She described him as a "compassionate, loving" boy, and said her "relatives is completely devastated".
He had been "obviously hiding his concerns", she said, adding that he could not stand to have anybody "have negative thoughts of him".
Educational Reaction
The hearing received testimony from school personnel at Connah's Quay secondary school.
On 8 November, she "heard some boys discussing that Kai had been arrested and that was the first I learned".
"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she continued.
After the discussion, the staff member said she rang the family's family telephone and provided a voicemail saying she had communicated to Kai about the accusations.
The proceedings learned his parents said they did not got that message.
Official Conclusion
Lead coroner informed the inquest he would wait for documents regarding what enhancements had been made to handling suspects with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a prevention of future fatalities report.
Providing a narrative finding, he stated: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsupported allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a young child.
"Probably untruths were subsequently embellished and amplified through the medium of online networks.
"On November 11th, he was interviewed by the authorities and following his interview he was freed while inquiries continued."
The official concluded: "Exists no proof that the acts or omissions of any organization led to or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a personal action it is impossible to determine his purpose."
